Set atop a hillside on the north shore of Lake Oswego, Oregon, this residence was a near-total reconstruction. The complexity of the structural & design work required close coordination with the structural engineer & builders. I worked onsite daily with Green Gables Design & Restoration to directly supervise construction.
Materials & finishes were selected to patinate & age visibly but to endure for decades.

This boathouse is situated at the foot of a cliff below the Lake House. The steep talus slope presents geotechnical & structural challenges which constrained the arrangement of spaces. Materials & forms are chosen to compliment the house above & blend quietly into the landscape of the lake shore.
The interior and exterior spaces work together echoing the feel of the house above and maximizing usable space on the small footprint we could build on.

Co-owners & chefs Ignacio & Erin del Solar present a regionally & seasonally grounded menu with roots in Ignacio’s native Peru. The interior is organized into bar, seating, & kitchen areas with clear visual lines throughout the space. A covered outdoor dining space is heated in the winter & invites NE Alberta’s street life inside. A small garden with a fire pit adjoins the bar, providing casual space for drinks & light dining.
